No More Kings' music is known for its frequent references to figures in pop culture, most notably Johnny Lawrence from The Karate Kid, Michael and K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, Johnny 5 from Short Circuit, and Dungeons and Dragons. The band's songs are written by Michell along with his longtime friend Neil Robins of the Louisville-based band Dirt Poor Robins. No More Kings have played shows all across the U.S. since 2006, playing most frequently in Los Angeles. The name "No More Kings" comes from an episode of Schoolhouse Rock!, one of many of No More Kings' inspirations. The particular episode dealt with the Pilgrims leaving England, seeking freedom and independence. In 2007, No More Kings released a music video for their song entitled "Sweet the Leg" that featured the cast from the 1984 film, The Karate Kid. The video received nearly 2 million views on Youtube! We are very excited to bring Pete and No More Kings back to Linton. Look for them on Saturday night, September 4th at Humphreys Park! Visit www.nomorekings.com to learn more about the band. Duke Tumatoe & The Power Trio to play Linton!![]() Today it was confirmed that Duke Tumatoe & The Power Trio will perform during the Sunday evening portion of the Linton Music Festival! Duke has been a longtime guest and favorite on The Bob and Tom Show and we are honored to have him back at this year's festival! From Duke's website: "You may remember him as the leader of the All-Star Frogs (1970-1983) and the Power Trio (1983-present), doing humorous and raunchy blues originals such as “Tie You Up!” and “More Love, More Money”. You may remember the Tumatoe tours of local clubs and endless spins of his songs on college radio in the ’70s and ’80s. You may not know that he played in a FIJI house band (Lothar and the Hand People) at the University of Illinois, the band name created by Bill Geist, CBS Sunday Morning News Correspondent; recorded for Warner Bros. (I Like My Job, produced by John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival fame); and was a member of REO Speedwagon — he left in 1969, evidently taking all rocking bluesy rootsy-ness with him — and he grew up on the South Side of Chicago, a blues-loving youth who hung with the legends." DISH Network, Node 1 Technology confirmed as title sponsors!
We received word last night from DISH Network officials confirming that they will be the title sponsor for this year's festival along with local DISH reseller, Node 1 Technology. We are very excited to have the opportunity to work with DISH Network again and they are helping to take the Linton Music Festival to the next level! Special thanks to Jake Thatcher of Node 1 Technology.
