The Rocky Rhoads
Alex Benefiel is 19 years old. He has been playing instruments and performing since the age of 4 with his family’s band which focused on country, and gospel music. Around the age of 14, he branched off and began to meddle in bluegrass music after being intrigued by the movie “O’ Brother Where Art Thou”. He’s multi-instrumental, but focuses primarily on guitar, banjo and fiddle. He lives in Oakland City,IN. He has been playing with the Rocky Rhoads for approximately 2 years.
Fletcher is a 17 year old senior at Washington high school. He plays various instruments but his specialty is banjo. He attends Antioch Christian church. He plans on attending Nashville diesel college next fall and hopes to make some music connections while in Nashville. He works at Williams brothers Pharmacy
Chandler is 16 years old and will be a junior at whs He plays bass with the group. He also attends ACC. He works at Bobes pizza.
Cooper is 14 years old and will be a freshman. Cooper plays mandolin. He also attends ACC. He plays football And baseball for WHS.
Fletcher, Chandler and Cooper Rhoads, the sons of Deb and Aaron Rhoads, attribute their love of bluegrass music to their grandfather Ed, who recently passed away.
The band won the 2010 Indiana State Bluegrass Band Championship.
